Theme introduction
Introduction to Theme II
Technique introduces distance into action. A gesture separated from its immediate effect can be observed and repeated, then recomposed into forms that direct contact alone could not sustain.
Chapter 4 examines distance as a condition of formal articulation. Chapter 5 follows the reorganisation of attention and sensibility through which aesthetic experience acquires material force. Chapter 6 turns to writing, where inscription persists outside the body and language becomes available for manipulation and accumulation across acts of transmission.
Registration changes both memory and possibility. Once a difference can be fixed and revisited, later operations need not begin again from the same point. The interval created by technique becomes a site of composition, yet every medium also selects what can be retained and what will remain unavailable.
