Introduction to Theme III
Thought begins in the friction between a situated body and a real that exceeds its present means of response. Symbols allow that friction to be retained and reorganised, but they provide no position outside the material relations from which thinking arises.
Chapter 7 follows thought as a bodily production of difference; Chapter 8 examines truth as a constructed articulation constrained by material correspondence, preserving rigour without appealing to an eternal form; Chapter 9 confronts death as the limit that symbolic elaboration can neither absorb nor remove from human existence.
The theme joins thought, truth, and mortality within a single finite field. Construction does not make every account equivalent, because the real continues to resist inadequate inscriptions. What loses its foundation gains responsibility for the distinctions it produces and for the bodies those distinctions affect.
