Introduction to Theme I
The future appears to lie ahead only while time is imagined as a line already prepared for events; an occurrence can instead alter the relations through which past, present, and possibility become legible, changing the temporal field it enters.
Chapter 1 removes the future from a location waiting to be reached. Chapter 2 follows the event as a break that reorganises given time without becoming detached from material continuity. Chapter 3 examines waiting as an active retention of possibility, capable of resisting decisions made inevitable by acceleration.
Time is not given because its articulation changes with the operations that inhabit it. Rupture and waiting become distinct ways of producing an opening within constrained conditions. Neither guarantees novelty, yet both prevent chronology from exhausting what may still occur.
