Place in Ontology
Text 10 marks the beginning of a new theme in Field I: "Excessive Matter: When the Real Is Made". We leave behind the question of "Origin" (how did it begin?) to enter the question of "Existence" (how does what began continue?).
The Specific Contribution
Foundation of Realism
This text is the realistic anchor of OCE. Without it, the theory could descend into total constructionism ("everything is language"). Here it is stated: no, not everything is language. The stone exists before the word "stone".
The Concept of Excess
It introduces the idea that the real is "excessive". There is always more matter than form, more event than record. The universe is a constant creative waste.
Preparing for Complexity
We can only speak of "emergent complexity" if there is an autonomous material basis on which this emergence can occur. If everything depended on our mind, complexity would just be an "idea", not a physical fact.
