No Foundation, Just Relationship in the System

This text occupies an axial position in Field I, functioning as a hinge between the dissolution of transcendence (text 25: "Origin Without God") and the affirmation of ontological decentralization (subsequent texts). While the previous text dissolves the need for an exterior creator, this essay completes the movement: there is also no interior foundation.

1 Position in the System

The argumentative sequence of Field I converges here on a cardinal thesis: if distance is a relationship (text about metrics), gravity is a relational bond (text about gravity), the universe is not a delimitable object (text 24), and there is no transcendent creator (text 25), then there is also no substrate on which the real would rest. There are only relationships generating relationships.

Operating Principle: This text establishes radical relationality as an operative principle transversal to the entire OCE: the consistency of the real emerges from relational compatibilities, not from anchoring in absolute terms.

2 Structural Function

The primary function of this text is to generalize the relational thesis to the entire physical and symbolic structure. Three movements are articulated:

  • Critical Genealogy: It dissolves the Western foundationalist tradition, from Thales to Kant, showing that each proposal for an ultimate foundation (arched, first substance, cogito, formas a priori) fails in the face of contemporary physics and epistemological holism.
  • Relational Physics: It mobilizes General Relativity (constitutive circularity between geometry and matter) and Relational Quantum Mechanics (Rovelli) to demonstrate that all physical properties are relational - there is no substance with intrinsic properties.
  • Symbolic Extension: Applies relationality to symbolic systems (Saussure, Wittgenstein, Quine), showing functional isomorphism between material structure and linguistic structure - both operate without foundation, only due to relational differences.

3 Contribution to Originality

  • Circularidade Constitutiva Generalizada: The text proposes that Wheeler's formula ("space-time tells matter how to move; matter tells space-time how to curve") is not a special case but a general ontological paradigm. Every structure is a network of reciprocal determinations without ontological hierarchy.
  • Relational Compatibility as a Criterion: It introduces the notion that material configurations persist not due to transcendental necessity but due to internal compatibility - incompatible configurations dissipate, only those that reach the compatibility threshold stabilize.
  • Stabilized Patterns without Substance: Dissolves common-sense objection ("but objects exist!") by showing that macroscopic objects are robust relational patterns - stabilized by symmetry breaking and scale decoupling, not substances with intrinsic properties.
  • Speculation on Dimensionality: It opens up a radical philosophical horizon: if there is no foundation, perhaps the dimensional structure (3+1) itself is an emerging effect of a more complex relational network. Rigorous speculation, not physical theory.

Connections to Other Fields

The radical relationality established in this text radiates to all subsequent fields: Field II (material properties as field relations), Field III (life as a self-organising relational pattern), Field IV (consciousness as relational emergence), Field V (technical systems such as relational networks). The text directly prepares ontological decentralization: if there is no fixed foundation, there can be no privileged center.
